The Abreu Law Firm PLLC, also known as ABREU LAW PLLC ("Abreu Law," "we," "us," or "our"), is a Florida law firm located at 201 Alhambra Circle, Suite 504, Coral Gables, Florida 33134. Our principal attorney is Robert E. Abreu, Esq., Florida Bar No. 0691119.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information through www.abreulaw.com, including its Spanish pages at www.abreulaw.com/es/ (together, the "Site"). It applies only to the Site. Information we receive while representing a client is governed by our duty of confidentiality under the Rules Regulating The Florida Bar, by other applicable professional rules, and by the client's engagement agreement.
When you fill out a contact form, email us, or call us, we collect what you provide. This usually includes your name, email address, phone number, preferred language, the general type of help you are looking for, how you heard about us, and any message you write. Please keep your first message short and general. Our Terms of Use explain why.
When you visit the Site, our systems and the tools described in Section 4 automatically collect technical information. This can include your IP address, approximate location based on that IP address, browser and device type, operating system, language setting, the page that referred you, the pages you view and for how long, the date and time of your visit, and actions you take on the Site, such as submitting a form or tapping our phone number or email link. Our host, SiteGround, also keeps server logs for security and performance.
We receive reports from Google and Meta about how visitors find and use the Site and how our ads perform. These reports are mostly aggregated. We may also receive your contact information from someone who refers you to us.
We do not ask for sensitive information through the Site, such as government identification numbers, immigration status, criminal history, health information, or financial account numbers. If you choose to include it in a message, we use it only to respond to you and to check for conflicts of interest.
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. Pixels and tags are small pieces of code that send information about your visit to us or to a third party. We use them in three ways:
Third parties, including Meta and Google, may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies on the Site and elsewhere on the internet to collect or receive information and to use that information to provide measurement services and to target and deliver ads.
Opt-out choices apply to the browser and device you use. If you clear cookies or use another device, you may need to opt out again.
We do not use your information to make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Where the law of your country requires a legal basis, we rely on one or more of the following: your consent; steps you ask us to take before a possible engagement; our legitimate interests in running a secure website, responding to inquiries, checking conflicts, and promoting our services, balanced against your rights; and compliance with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect use that happened before.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade it. Other than through the analytics and advertising tools described in Section 4, we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. We share personal information only as follows:
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes in this policy. Inquiries that do not lead to an engagement are kept for 3 years after our last contact so we can run conflict checks and keep a record of what was communicated. Information that becomes part of a client file is kept as stated in the engagement agreement and as required by the Rules Regulating The Florida Bar. Google Analytics data is kept for 14 months. Meta states that it keeps event data received through its tools for up to two years. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) to the Site, limited access to inquiry data, and the security tools of our hosting provider. No website, form, or email system is completely secure, and standard email and web forms are not end-to-end encrypted. If a data breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by law, including section 501.171, Florida Statutes.
The Site is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them through the Site. If you believe a child under 18 has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it. If a minor needs legal help, a parent or guardian should contact us.
The Site is operated from the United States. If you visit from another country, your information will be sent to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. Where required, we rely on your consent or another lawful basis for this transfer. If your country gives you rights over your personal information, you may exercise them as described in Section 13, and we will respond as required by the law that applies to you.
Wherever you live, you may ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you from the Site, correct it, or delete it. You may also ask us to stop contacting you. To make a request, use the contact information in Section 17. We will need to verify your identity before acting. We may keep information when we must do so for conflict checks, to meet legal or professional obligations, or to establish or defend legal claims, and we will tell you if that applies.
Some US states have consumer privacy laws that give residents specific rights. Based on our size and activities, we do not believe those laws currently apply to our firm. We will still honor reasonable requests under this section.
If you contact us, we may reply by email or phone using the information you provided. We do not currently send marketing text messages or newsletters. If we offer them in the future, we will ask for your consent first and explain how to stop them.
The Site may link to other websites, such as government agencies, courts, and our social media pages. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control. Messages sent to us through social media platforms are also subject to those platforms' policies.
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Florida, except where the law of your place of residence requires otherwise. We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page with a new "last updated" date. If we make a material change, we will post a notice on the Site before it takes effect.
